Global developer social network + collaborative space facilitates awareness and sharing of best practices, cutting edge platforms throughout the org.
The Challenge
The project mission was to create a sophisticated developer intranet and collaborative space for the internal worldwide software development teams to share methods, best practices via a kind of social network.
The team conducted in-person and remote user research to generate personas of the diverse developer community. The developers in different locations emphasized different methods and practices. Requirements were gathered from stakeholders and user representatives in a collaborative workshop. The team also generated a new product identity as well as product design concepts leading to a rich interactive prototype.
The Result
Wide adoption by the 20,000 strong internal firmwide developer community. After launch, 10% YoY increase in user postings of shared best practices of Agile methodology and rapidly evolving new technologies that teams were experimenting with. Greatly increased awareness of internal events and person-to-person connections/followers. NPS survey of impression of developers as a good place to work and learn increased by 17%.
